But when they shut down no one can catch them. A few anglers have been spotted fishing the wall at Walnut Creek at night in search of that first tributary steelhead but it's a bit early. They are new too and the fingers on them will be 1 ft shorter. Some opening day suggestions:Tackle: Light or ultra light spinning or spin cast reels filled with two to four lb. They seemed really impressed with all the fish and said they waited so long for this trip and it was worth it.
